Welcome to another Walk with Wingman. Today we're going to talk about struggle as a step in the spoon. Struggling does not mean failure. Struggling means successfully not giving up. I was listening to the Choose Strong podcast in marveling at Sally McRae's accomplishment of winning the Moab 240. 240 miles. It makes me queasy just to think about it. Her raw, honest recap of the race was wonderful. She made it clear that there were times of smiles and times of struggle. Yet, with her goal in mind, she persevered past the struggles for the win. And the struggles were not just during the race, but there were many challenges she encountered in the months and weeks leading up to this final race of her season. Congratulations, sally.

If you're listening, have you ever found yourself wrestling the challenges and maybe even teetering on the edge of surrender? You're not alone. Whether it's personal health goals, professional aspirations or just personal growth, struggles are inherent in every journey. I'd like to challenge you to redefine your relationship with struggle. Let's view them not as indicators of failure, but as testaments to our resilience and our unwavering spirit. So let's reframe your perspective. Instead of viewing struggles as setbacks, see them as necessary steps in the process. Every challenge you face equips you with new skills, insights and experiences that can enrich your journey. Research suggests that how we perceive challenges can influence both our physiological and our psychological responses to them. And you have to celebrate small wins. While it's essential to have big goals, don't forget to acknowledge the small victories along the way. Each of these mini milestones serves as a reminder of your progress and resilience and helps motivate you to push forward.

Practice self-compassion. It's natural to feel frustrated or downcast during down times. However, instead of being hard on yourself, practice self-compassion. Studies indicate that self-compassion can reduce anxiety, depression and stress, while also promoting well-being. And if you're on the struggle bus, remember that seeking help is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength. Lead on trusted friends, family, clergy or professional counselors. Sharing your struggles can offer new perspective, solutions or simply a comforting place to event. Maintain a growth mindset. Embrace a growth mindset, which is the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort and perseverance. This mindset can enhance motivation, foster resilience and improve performance.

Visualize the journey Regularly. Take a moment to visualize your journey. Close your eyes, take a deep breath in, hold it and then breathe out and see yourself accomplishing your goals. In that visualization include both the challenges and the tri-infant moments. By mentally rehearsing and overcoming struggles, you can build confidence and prepare for real-world challenges. The road to success, regardless of the domain, is rarely smooth. It's sprinkled with challenges, roadblocks, mountains, detours and other things to help you get stronger. However, it's essential to remember that these struggles aren't indicative of failure, but they are markers of persistence, of your persistence. Each time you face adversity and choose to persevere, you're sculpting a stronger, more resilient version of yourself. So, as you head into this week and the journey beyond, please carry this mantra close to your heart. I embrace struggles not as signs of my failure, but as proof of my perseverance. Okay, superhero, stay strong, stay inspired and remember the beauty of your journey lies not in the absence of challenges, but in the strength and spirit you manifest in overcoming them. Be well.
